Improving People’s Happiness Index Is the True Purpose of Politics”: Nitin Gadkari

Solapur, May 15 ( UNI) union Minister Nitin Gadkari said that the real essence of politics lies in improving the happiness index of common people and ensuring balanced development between rural and urban India.
Addressing a gathering in Solapur, Gadkari spoke about the agrarian crisis in Vidarbha, where nearly 10,000 farmers had died by suicide. He said he has now begun working on a model village project aimed at improving rural livelihoods. Under the initiative, 500-square-foot houses will be provided for Rs 5 lakh, along with free electricity and water for life.
He emphasized that farmers are no longer just food producers but are also becoming energy producers through ethanol and hydrogen technologies. Gadkari said farmers in the future would produce hydrogen fuel and even materials used in road construction. Referring to his hydrogen-powered Toyota Mirai car, he said “Mirai” means “future,” symbolising the direction in which India’s agriculture and fuel sectors are heading.
