Juairiya's debut fifty powers Bangladesh past Netherlands

Birmingham, June 14 (UNI) Debutant Juairiya Ferdous produced a dream World Cup debut, smashing a fluent half-century to steer Bangladesh Women to a six-wicket victory over Netherlands Women in their ICC Women's T20 World Cup Group A match at Edgbaston on Sunday.
Playing her first match at the global event, the young opener showed little sign of nerves as she took the attack to the Dutch bowlers from the outset. Her sparkling 50 off 33 balls, studded with seven boundaries and two sixes, set the tone for Bangladesh's successful chase of 140 and earned her the distinction of being the standout performer of the contest.
Juairiya shared a decisive 67-run opening partnership with Dilara Akter (26), helping Bangladesh race ahead of the required rate. The aggressive stand effectively neutralised any pressure from the target and put the Netherlands on the back foot early in the chase.
