Maha: Congress slams Centre over ‘Election-Driven Politics'

Pune, Apr 15 (UNI) The Congress in Maharashtra today launched a sharp attack on the BJP government, accusing it of indulging in "election-driven politics” at the cost of constitutional principles and national interest, while demanding that the process of delimitation of constituencies be carried out strictly in accordance with established constitutional norms.
Addressing the media here, Maharashtra Pradesh Congress senior spokesperson Gopaldada Tiwari alleged that the Centre’s approach towards electoral reforms and women’s reservation reflects political expediency rather than commitment to social justice.
Marking the birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Tiwari said the government’s handling of the Women’s Reservation Bill — popularly referred to as the Nari Shakti Vandan amendment — undermines the ideals of social equality envisioned by the Constitution’s chief architect. He claimed the Centre was attempting to dilute provisions related to reservation for backward class women.
