Massive Central force deployment announced for first phase of Bengal polls

Kolkata, April 15 (UNI) The Election Commission of India has announced the deployment of 2,407 companies of Central forces in 152 constituencies spread across 15 districts in poll-bound West Bengal, where the first phase of polling is due April 23. Each compnay roughly comprises 100 personnel.
The extensive deployment plan was announced after the Election Commission vowed to a free and fair polling across sensitive regions of the state.
The initial phase will cover a vast geographical spread, including all districts of North Bengal —Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, Cooch Behar, North Dinajpur, South Dinajpur and Malda.
