Meghalaya BJP files FIR over desecration of Jesus Christ statue

Tura, April 14 (UNI) Meghalaya BJP Vice President Bernard Marak filed an FIR on Tuesday over the desecration of a statue of Jesus Christ at Chibinang market in West Garo Hills.
In a complaint lodged with the district police chief of West Garo Hills, Abraham Sangma, Marak who is also a member of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC), alleged that a statue of Lord Jesus Christ was vandalised by a mob."
“A mob, allegedly consisting largely of illegal migrants, assembled unlawfully and engaged in acts of violence in Chibinang area on March 9, 2026 which was reportedly instigated and provoked by former MLA and MDC, Esmatur Mominin,” Marak stated in the FIR.
