National rapid, blitz chess championship begins in Ranchi

Ranchi, March 11 (UNI) The three-day National Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship 2025–26 began at the Sarla Birla University campus in Birla Knowledge City, Mahilong near Ranchi on Wednesday.
More than 450 players from different states are participating in the tournament, including around 150 players from Jharkhand.
Ranchi mayor Roshni Khalkho inaugurated the championship and said games like chess help develop concentration, strategic thinking and patience among the youth.

“I have no objection to checks, but the intent must be fair,” she said, calling it “selective targeting”.
