Punjab Speaker appears before Akal Takht over sacrilege law amendments

Chandigarh, May 8 (UNI) Punjab Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan on Friday appeared before the Akal Takht Secretariat in Amritsar to provide a formal clarification regarding the recent amendments to the sacrilege law enacted by the Aam Aadmi Party government.
Following a summons issued by Jathedar Kuldeep Singh Gadhaj, the Speaker arrived at the holy site barefoot, portraying the persona of a humble seeker, to address concerns raised by the Sikh clergy.
The summons originated from allegations that the state government failed to sufficiently consult key Sikh organizations and religious leadership before finalising the legislative changes.
