SIR row: HHF flags ‘mass voter deletions’ in Bengal, seeks SC intervention ahead of polls

Siliguri, April 14 (UNI) With concerns mounting over alleged large-scale voter deletions ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, a Siliguri-based organisation has called for urgent judicial intervention to safeguard electoral rights in West Bengal.
The Haji Halima Foundation (HHF), during a national webinar held on April 12 on “SIR and the Rights of Voters in West Bengal,” brought together legal experts, academicians, economists, and civil society members to deliberate on the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
The session was chaired by Prof. Balbir Singh Butola of Jawaharlal Nehru University, with key speakers including Advocate Motahar Hossain of the Supreme Court, Prof. Anwaruzzaman of Aliah University, and economist Dr. Prasenjit Bose, Chairperson of the SIR Committee of the West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee.
