Women officers at forefront of Punjab's crusade against organized crime

Chandigarh, Apr 14 (UNI) Punjab’s women police officers are increasingly taking centre stage in the state's aggressive campaign to eradicate gangsterism and organized crime.
Driven by the Bhagwant Mann-led government’s vision of a 'Crime-Free Punjab,' these officers are leading high-stakes operations and redefining the traditional dynamics of the force. From supervising strategic crackdowns under 'Gangstran Te Vaar' to managing community-centric initiatives, the growing leadership of women has positioned the Punjab Police as one of the most progressive and inclusive law enforcement agencies in the country.
Data from the Punjab Police indicates a significant institutional shift, with 79 women officers currently serving in key leadership roles, ranging from Special Director General of Police (SDGP) to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).
