Escorts Kubota launches 'South Special' paddy tractor series under Powertrac

Hyderabad, Mar 3 (UNI) Aiming to strengthen its presence in the paddy mechanisation market across southern India, Escorts Kubota Limited (EKL), a leading engineering conglomerate, with over 80 years of experience in agricultural and construction equipment manufacturing, launched Powertrac ‘Shaurya’, a new ‘South Special’ paddy tractor series in the 39–52 horsepower (HP) range here on Tuesday. Pricing starts from Rs 5.75 lakh and maximum Rs 7.30 lakh, the new range tractor , comprising five variants, marks the first dedicated paddy- and wetland-focused series introduced under the Powertrac brand, it said.
It has been developed specifically for key paddy-growing states including Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
Escorts Kubota operates three tractor brands in India — Kubota, Farmtrac and Powertrac — catering to premium, entry-premium and value segments, respectively.
According to the company, the Shaurya series has been engineered for operations in wetland and waterlogged field conditions.
The tractors feature cassette-type sealing across key aggregates to reduce water and mud ingress, a 3.1-metre turning radius for improved manoeuvrability, and a fully constant mesh gearbox with eight forward and two reverse gears.
The series offers Sensi-1 hydraulic lift capacity ranging between 1,600 kg and 2,000 kg depending on the variant. It is equipped with an independent PTO lever with double clutch configuration and dual PTO speed options of 540/1000, along with reverse PTO to support diversified paddy applications, including baler usage.
Additional features include a perforated elevated platform suited for wetland operations, protected wiring harness routing within the fender channel and an adjustable slider seat with anti-slippery pads.
Commenting on the launch, Chairman and Managing Director Nikhil Nanda said southern India is central to the company’s next phase of growth and the new series aligns with its strategy of introducing application-led products tailored to regional requirements.
Deputy Managing Director Akira Kato said the Shaurya range was engineered specifically for paddy and wetland operations in southern markets, with product development beginning from field conditions rather than standard platforms.
Chief Officer – Tractor Business Division Neeraj Mehra said the product’s manoeuvrability, sealing protection and PTO configurations were aligned with the operational requirements of paddy growers.
Whole-time Director and CFO Bharat Madan said the launch would strengthen the company’s participation in the paddy segment in southern markets and improve the regional composition of its tractor portfolio.
The Powertrac Shaurya series will be available through authorised Powertrac dealerships across southern India.
