IndiGo announces daily direct flights between Kolkata and Shanghai

Hyderabad, Mar 3 (UNI) IndiGo on Tuesday announced the launch of daily non-stop flights between Kolkata and Shanghai, effective from March 29.
The route will be operated using the airline’s Airbus A320 aircraft, the airlines said in a release here.
The announcement follows the recent.nick reinstatement of the carrier’s services to Guangzhou, underscoring its focus on strengthening air connectivity between India and China.
Customers can book tickets through IndiGo’s official website, mobile application and authorised travel partners.
Shanghai, widely regarded as China’s financial and commercial capital, becomes a key addition to the airline’s international network. The new route is expected to support growing trade ties, particularly as exports from West Bengal to China — including marine products, leather goods and specialised textiles — have expanded in FY25-26.
Commenting on the development, Vinay Malhotra, Global Head of Sales at IndiGo, said the new service reflects the airline’s commitment to connecting India with key global markets.
He said the addition of Shanghai, alongside Guangzhou, will help facilitate bilateral trade, boost tourism and promote cultural exchange between the two countries.
IndiGo continues to expand its international footprint as part of its broader strategy to enhance global connectivity from key Indian metros.
