Reliance signs long-term Green Ammonia supply deal with Samsung C&T

New Delhi, March 16 (UNI) Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has signed a landmark long-term agreement with Samsung C&T Corporation of South Korea for the supply of green ammonia, marking a major step in India’s emergence as a global exporter of clean fuels, an Reliance statement said here today.
The binding Supply and Purchase Agreement (SPA), valued at over USD3 billion, will run for 15 years and is scheduled to begin in the second half of FY2029.
The deal is among the largest long-term green ammonia offtake agreements globally and is expected to strengthen India’s position in the rapidly evolving global green energy market.
Under the agreement, RIL will supply green ammonia produced through its integrated new energy ecosystem that includes renewable power, energy storage, green hydrogen and downstream green fuels.
The initiative aligns with India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission aimed at building the country into a major global hub for green hydrogen and its derivatives.
The company is developing a fully integrated clean-energy platform supported by domestic manufacturing of critical technologies such as solar modules, battery energy storage systems and electrolyser systems.
By combining these capabilities within a single ecosystem, Reliance aims to produce scalable and cost-competitive green fuels for international markets while strengthening India’s manufacturing base.
Anant Ambani, Executive Director of Reliance Industries, said the partnership represents an important milestone in India’s clean-energy transition.
He noted that collaborations of this nature will help scale the company’s green hydrogen ecosystem and support the development of large-scale gigafactories dedicated to clean-energy technologies.
Reliance is building a major green energy hub at Jamnagar in Gujarat, anchored by the Dhirubhai Ambani Green Energy Giga Complex, which will house manufacturing facilities for solar modules, batteries, electrolysers, fuel cells and power electronics. The project is expected to support large-scale production of green hydrogen and ammonia for both domestic consumption and exports.
The agreement with Samsung C&T is expected to be the first of several long-term partnerships supporting the expansion of Reliance’s new energy business as the company works toward its target of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2035.
