Sunny Deol kicks off shooting for action thriller ‘Antony’

New Delhi, Mar 3 (UNI) Following the massive success of ‘Border 2’, Bollywood action icon Sunny Deol is back on the big screen, as shooting for his upcoming action thriller ‘Antony’ officially begins in Mumbai. The film also stars Tamil actress Jyotika, with Vijay Varma joining as the antagonist, marking his first collaboration with the 68-year-old superstar.

Shooting commenced on February 27 and is slated to wrap by July 2026, with a theatrical release planned for early 2027. The project is produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment in association with A.R. Murugadoss’ banner, and is being directed by debutante Balaji Ganesh, a Chennai-based filmmaker who has assisted Murugadoss on several large-scale projects.

‘Antony’ promises a suspense-driven action narrative, featuring Deol in a high-octane role. Deol was last seen in Anurag Singh’s ‘Border 2’, the 1971 Indo-Pak war drama that has become the year’s biggest hit, grossing over Rs 327 crore net in India and nearly Rs 450 crore worldwide in just 39 days.

The veteran actor’s slate for 2026 is packed: he will appear next in Shashank Udapurkar’s Gabru releasing on May 8, Rajkumar Santoshi’s Lahore 1947 during Independence Day weekend, and Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana Part 1 for Diwali, where he portrays Lord Hanuman.

With Antony, Sunny Deol continues to cement his legacy in action cinema, promising audiences a mix of suspense, power, and adrenaline-fueled storytelling.
